Application deadline: Apr 1, 2026 Amazon Advertising is seeking a Senior Software Development Manager to lead a team building the next generation of agentic AI systems for advertising. You will own the Ads Agent Orchestration platform — the core infrastructure that enables AI agents to autonomously manage advertising campaigns across Amazon's full-funnel advertising products. This is a high-visibility role at the intersection of generative AI, distributed systems, and advertising technology, reporting to a Director of Software Development within the Full Funnel Agentic Intelligence organization. Key job responsibilities - Lead and grow a team of 8-12 software engineers building agentic AI orchestration services at scale - Own the technical vision and roadmap for the Ads Agent Orchestration platform, including agent runtime, tool/skill frameworks, and multi-agent coordination - Drive architecture decisions for systems integrating LLM frameworks (Strands Agents, Amazon Bedrock), MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and real-time advertising APIs - Partner with Applied Science, Product, and partner engineering teams to define and deliver agent capabilities that directly impact advertiser outcomes - Establish operational excellence practices for AI-powered services including evaluation frameworks, observability (OTEL tracing), and safe deployment patterns - Manage team roadmap, sprint execution, and delivery commitments across multiple concurrent workstreams - Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent; build a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical rigor - Represent the team in VP-level reviews, org planning, and cross-org technical discussions A day in the life - Review team sprint progress, unblock engineers, and triage incoming requests - Participate in architecture reviews and design discussions for agent orchestration features - 1:1s with direct reports focused on career development, technical growth, and delivery - Coordinate with partner teams (AgentCore, AdsFabricSDK, DX MCP Gateway, A3C) on integration milestones - Review operational dashboards, deployment health, and agent evaluation metrics - Prepare and present status updates to Director and VP leadership - 10 years of engineering experience - 5 years of engineering team management experience - 10 years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment - 10 years of software development experience - 5 years of people management, managing engineers experience - Bachelor's degree or above in computer science or equivalent, or experience from a technical internship - Experience designing, building, operating, and managing large-scale distributed systems or web services - Experience with software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time - Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams - Experience partnering with product and program management teams - Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications - Experience with AI/ML technologies - Experience within advertising technology related sales - Experience with AWS Services including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS - Experience leading large teams, with demonstrable ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams - MBA, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent - Familiarity with agent orchestration patterns, tool-use frameworks, or the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
